Arusha National Park
Arusha National Park is in north eastern Tanzania. Although
not large, it covers three distinct areas. Ngurdoto, to the
south, is grassland, featuring the Ngurdoto Crater. Momela,
to the east, features shallow alkaline Momella Lakes in varying
algal colours, known for their wading birds and surrounded
by swamps. To the west, the Meru Crater funnels the Jekukumia
River; Mount Meru (the second highest peak in Tanzania at
4566m) lies on its rim.
It is one of the most beautiful parks in Tanzania. Aside
from the abundance of wildlife, fauna and flora there are
three spectacular features; Momella Lakes, Meru Crater, and
the Ngurdoto Crater. Both Mount
Kilimanjaro and Mount
Meru can be seen from the park when the weather is fine.
The park has antelope of all sorts in addition to buffalos,
leopards, hyaenas, baboon, colobus monkey, giraffe, rhino,
elephant, and hippopotamus. The areas surrounding the lake
are rich in birdlife and you will certainly see flamingos,
egrets, plovers, raptors, herons, and pelicans. Hippos are
also common around the Momella Lakes. In the forest area at
the base of Mt. Meru, you will see dik-dik, duikers, warthogs
and monkeys. There are no lions in Arusha National Park although
you will occasionally sight the elusive leopard.
We, at Circle K Safaris, shall be delighted to arrange for
you a safari to this beautiful park in Tanzania.

Kilimanjaro
National Park
Kilimanjaro National Park is located near Moshi, Tanzania and
is approximately 1,665 sq. km (643 sq mi). It is centered on
Mount Kilimanjaro,
and covers an area of 753 kmē. In the 1910s, Mount Kilimanjaro
and its forests was declared a game reserve by the German colonial
government. In 1921 it was made a forest reserve. In
1973, the mountain above the tree line was reclassified as a
National Park and was opened to public access in 1977. The park
was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987.
Mt. Kilimanjaro,
standing at 5,895 metres (19,340 ft), can be climbed all year
round although the best months are January, February, July through
to September, and November through to December. During other
times of the year, there are rains making visibility poor, and
hence dangerous. You have to be in good physical condition to
attempt a climb on this mountain. At Circle K Safaris, we organize
trips to climb Mt.
Kilimanjaro and have acquired formidable experience in climbing
safaris. |
